    Generative artificial intelligence

Generative artificial intelligence is a subset of artificial intelligence that uses generative models to produce text, images, videos, or other forms of data. These models learn the underlying patterns and structures of their training data and use them to produce new data based on the input, which often comes in the form of natural language prompts. Improvements in transformer-based deep neural networks, particularly large language models, enabled an AI boom of generative AI systems in the 2020s. These include chatbots such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and LLaMA; text-to-image artificial intelligence image generation systems such as Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, and DALL-E; and text-to-video AI generators such as Sora. Companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, Google, and Baidu as well as numerous smaller firms have developed generative AI models. Wikipedia

Mar 5, 2024Generative AI has a fairly short history, with the technology being initially introduced during the 1960s, in the form of chatbots. It is a form of artificial intelligence that can currently produce high-quality text, images, videos, audio, and synthetic data in seconds. However, it wasn't until 2014, when the concept of the generative ...

4 days agoGenAI's history actually goes back nine decades. Though innovations and developments abound, its progress commercially has been relatively slow -- until recently. The combination of larger labeled data sets, faster computers and new ways of automatically encoding unlabeled data has hastened generative AI's development over the past five years.
  8. Generative AI sets itself apart from traditional AI by the fact that it is capable of generating new content such as visuals, audio and textual data. It may seem like technology has only recently emerged. However, this is not entirely true. The first generative algorithms date back to the origins of AI as a field of computer science.
